2011 Schedule

November 10 2011, 1 pm

"Growing Happy Bonsai"

Bar Harbor Garden Club, Bar Harbor, ME

We will be exploring the "hows" of growing happy bonsai. The cultural requirements of various tree species grown as bonsai; along with their light, temperature and moisture requirements. Basic pruning, pinching and training will be discussed as well. At the end of the talk, folks should be able to pick out the species of bonsai best suited to their lifestyle and growing location.

"Oriental Landscape Tree Pruning Techniques, Year Two"
Orono Garden Club, Orono, ME
FMI: Lou & Murray Bain, 866-3681.
This should be a lot of fun, again! We will be working with some of Lou and Murray's dwarf evergreens in a garden setting, utilizing Asian pruning and training techniques to achieve a "bonsai" spirit in a garden setting. We will be working with the same trees we pruned last year in 2009, training and pruning to add more design and bonsai ch'i to these landscape trees.
